Hope’s Letter to the Newspaper

I hesitated to show this to you.  It feels a little like bragging.  But I wanted to honor Hope and what she has accomplished.

She entered a Mother’s Day Essay Contest in the local newspaper.  And she won!

Here’s her letter…….

My mom is like my heart and lungs. I couldn’t survive without her.

One of the best things about her is that she doesn’t let her friends’ opinions dictate her actions. If she thinks it’s cute, she wears it. If she knows it’s right, she does it — whether her friends think it’s weird or not. And I personally think she’s the cutest of them all.

She has an admirable attitude of “do it yourself.” Why, she can home-school all nine of us kids, decorate and remodel an adorable home, run a monogramming business, an Etsy shop, a blog, be president of the home school group and do it all to perfection.

Never does she turn us away but always lets us pour our aching hearts at her feet and helps to mend them. She enjoys taking every little moment of every single day to teach us what it takes to be clean, happy and healthy, and to guide us and raise us up in the ways of the Lord.

She has blessed my life beyond compare by teaching me to do what she does best — to selflessly serve others. And that’s why my Mom is the ultimate best.

Last weekend’s award meant the world to me, but this one is 1000 times better!

  1. I love you both so much right now ☺ I hope our paths do cross one day, I have a good feeling that they will. You certainly are an inspiration to me as I try to build my home and figure out homeschooling and how it fits in to our lives.

  2. I stumbled across your blog today…and I am loving your school room, and I love your thoughts in this post! We are getting ready to welcome #4 in 5 years, and I am feeling nervous and overwhelmed at my ability to maintain all I do now…LOVE this! Thanks for the encouragment!
