Getting Ready for the Living Room

I am getting ready for a break.  A break from school.  A break from running around.  A break from cooking…..oh.  I don’t really get a break from cooking?  Drats!

But I am going to take a week off to “tweak” my living room.

I am still in love with my Restoration Hardware Silver Sage walls and white trim.

Here’s the living room now….

My parents gave us the reddish sofa.  All of you people that said I should paint my new lockers red probably love it.  But I am trying to calm the colors down in my house, so I want to tone it down a little.  I bought some fabric to make new covers for the cushions and re-cover the throw pillows.  I would love to cover it in white, but that just doesn’t work for me.  I am constantly washing the slip cover on the love seat in my bedroom.

The ladder on the left leads up to Jacob’s bedroom/loft.  I want to trim it and paint it.  And the “P” is missing on the word Peace behind the ladder.  No one knows how it got knocked down, but I have my suspicions.

A few steps forward and turn left and here’s what you see…..

Jacob’s computer cabinet.  It’s where he lives.  I’d love to paint it, but it’s made of some kind of veneer.  What do you think?

I do have plans for the piano in the other corner….but I’m not going to tell you about it.  I don’t want anyone to try to talk me out of it.

The wall opposite of the reddish sofa….

I love my $25 flea market dresser.  It came in yellow with bunnies appliqued on it.  The wicker chair is from Target and I made the ottoman out of an old milk crate.

Rotate left and see this….

My beautiful bench.  I got it at Canton several years ago.  I added the cushion and skirt.   I don’t plan on changing it at all.  I love it!  But I do think I will paint the bookshelf in the corner.

I always have a helper when I’m taking pictures.

I am so looking forward to taking a week to freshen up the living room.  I don’t know if I’ll change the arrangement since it works pretty well for us.  I need a lot of seating and for such a small room it’s been the best we’ve come up with.

I always need a couple of weeks to get my mind ready for a room redo.  That also gives me time to do the shopping and prep work.

Hopefully next week, but more realistically it will be the week after…..I can’t wait!
