A Newspaper Reporter and Nine Children

That’s pretty much the picture of my morning.

There’s a reporter coming to interview us about our award.

I’m running around the house trying to straighten and sweep and I hear the children (who are supposed to be helping) having this conversation…

9 year old: Did you know that Pixar is making a live action movie even though they are a part of Disney?

11 year old: I hear that Fox picked up Pixar and Disney dropped it.

16 year old: Disney didn’t actually drop Pixar.  There were disputes and problems, but they are still together. John Lassiter from Pixar is working with Disney now.

WHAT?!

a) Why are we having this conversation right now?

b) HOW do they know this stuff?!

c) Why are they having this conversation RIGHT NOW?!

Don’t they know we have to dust off the school desks and make it look like we’ve actually done school lately?  I mean, this stuff is important!

We got the house picked up, the fingernails clipped and were waiting in the living room when…..

The reporter called to say he couldn’t make it.

Allrighty then.

I guess we’ll get some school done for real.  Maybe we should study movie studios and their business practices.  I’m sure the kids could teach me a few things.

  1. Congratulations on the big award! You deserve it. 🙂 I knew about it last week, but managed to keep my mouth shut. It was hard….but then, you knew that, right? 🙂

    Love,

  2. So the worst is, you need to cage the bluebirds for tonight and have them ready to tie your apron on again when the reporter does arrive. Ahhh…. I can almost smell the golden apple pie in the oven…
