David and Lynda

I ran into our friends, David and Lynda, at Costco.  It’s always funny to me when I see a friend in the big city….I don’t live there and they don’t live there yet God often brings us together in the most unexpected way.

It prompted me to tell you about this precious couple.  They are an example of godliness and always an encouragement to me.  I aspire to be the kind of older woman that Lynda is.

They are older than I….closer to my parent’s age.  James and I both appreciate having their wisdom in our lives.

David and Lynda have had struggles over the past few years.  First came an attack on Lynda’s body.  It was hard to watch her suffer, but David’s devotion to her was such a glorious picture of the Father’s love.  Even in the midst of the trial, I never heard them complain.  They continued to spread joy wherever they went.

They didn’t know then that harder times were ahead.  The unexpected death of their daughter was a blow no parent ever wants to face.  The grief hit our community like a bolt.  How would our sweet friends David and Lynda endure such a tragedy?

They were amazing…..unyielding in their praise for the Lord.  Always giving Him the glory in all things.  It was an example I will never forget.

Seeing them at Costco yesterday was a treat for me.  It was like a special blessing from God in the middle of an ordinary day.  He used them to remind me that He loves me.  David and Lynda always make me feel special.  Their joy and peace are contagious.

I am grateful to have friends that hold me to a higher standard yet still love me no matter what.  I am so thankful to have Lynda as an example of what a woman is supposed to be.  It is God’s plan that the older women teach the younger women.  Friends like Lynda show me it is possible to become what God is calling me to.

Thanks David and Lynda…..for your shining example of God’s beauty in all things.  It does not go unnoticed.

  1. AW, I **LOVE** THEM! We, too, have been blessed by their friendship over the years. While I know that they do what they do for GOD’S glory, it is so great for you to honor them in this way!

  2. Oh Lisa…I am so glad you commented. You are so right, they do it all for the glory of God. My main goal was to show a godly standard that is possible to achieve. I’ll bet they don’t like the attention, but we all can learn from their example. Lisa~
