Snow!

Snow Snow Snow Snow Snow!

We are stunned…positively shocked over the snow flurry in our yard!

The kids ran immediately outside and started squealing.

But there was a problem. Every stinkin’ year I get caught by surprise. Someone doesn’t have what they need for the cold weather. Keep in mind we’re in TEXAS. You Kentucky, Minnesota, Ohio people won’t understand. It was hot last week….like sandals and t-shirts. Why would I be ready for cold weather? I wasn’t expecting it yet! And, OK maybe I am not the best at the whole silly, “everyone needs shoes” thing. I’m not too proud to admit it.

Here’s the whole, crazy bunch one at a time…..youngest to oldest….

Baby’s first snowflakes. He kept saying, “snow! snow!” but I don’t think he had any idea what it meant.

This little guy is the silliest kid. He never cares if what he wears belongs to him. If he sees it, he wears it. He will wear his oldest sister’s crocks outside with Daddy’s socks. He’s really funny.

But THIS one really keeps us in stitches. He’s extremely literal. So we like to mess with his head. Confuse the boy. What else can you do with a kid that wears a Santa hat 24 hours a day for weeks? Anyway, what’s the fun of having kids if you can’t use them for your personal entertainment every once in a while?

This guy is growing up way too fast for his mother’s liking. He’s all permanent teeth and big boy math and making smoothies. He loves to help me. He’ll jump up and run to me if he sees I might need his help. Very, very nice boy.

Isn’t she pretty? Really, how do I stand looking at these pretty girls all day? She’s a brainiac, this one. But she loves the Lord and tries really hard to obey, even though it can be a challenge when you’re smarter than everyone else. 😉

Mini-me. She’s organized and tidy and funny….she’s the jewelry maker. She’s been like an adult since she was 3 years old. Don’t make her start to giggle….she’ll be out of control giggling, shaking and covering her mouth for 10 minutes. It’s one of my favorite things to do, make her giggle and then act shocked that she can’t stop. Which makes her giggle more.

This little girl makes everyone happy. She’s a ray of sunshine. She would do anything for anyone without hesitation. She is cheerful, but sometimes very emotional. She talks so fast it’s hard to understand her. But she’s working on it.

My animator….18 years old in two weeks. Hates the cold, hates the rain, hates it when Mom drags him outside for pictures. But don’t let the expression fool you. He made this face for me on purpose. He’s very playful. He doesn’t laugh often, but when he does he laughs hard. It’s a personal challenge for me to make him laugh once a day.

My firstborn. My rock. She inspires me every day to be a better mom and a better woman. She holds down the fort when I’m gone and she desires to honor God in any way He leads. She loves the baby…..I have to remind her he’s mine. She can’t have him.

I guess my snow post turned into a love fest over my kids. I can’t help it. They are such a blessing to me. I’m glad it snowed. I’m glad I stopped to think about each one of them and how special they are.

This will be reposted on my second blog.

  1. Lisa,
I came over here from the Remodelaholic. Your post of your 11 year old son’s room is amazing. Love the style and the color you chose. My 12 yrs old son and I watched your kids’ video and looked like they had tons of fun making the movie. My children like making movies with their friends too and I love your love fest post about your kids. They do look like they enjoy each other’s company. I have four children – 22 to 2. Yup, The Lord allows me to have a son every ten years and a daughter who is 15. We live in a 800 sq ft condo with no budget for any remodeling, just keeping the place clean is all I could do {happily though}. 🙂 I am looking forward to reading your blog posts. Jenny~
