Texas Convention

At long last I am finished with all of my world travels. OK, maybe not WORLD travels. But for sure Texas travels. And as far as this pure-bred Texan is concerned, that’s the world.

I have just returned from the Texas Home School Coalition Leadership Convention. I tell you friends, I could not have imagined how full my little head was going to be. My mind aches from the huge amount of stuff that was crammed into it in one weekend.

Everything from building a home school website to managing a support group to deep personal conviction. So many subject were covered that is all a jumble up there. Don’t believe it when they say everything is bigger in Texas. I think the real saying goes something like this…”Everything is bigger in Texas, except Lisa’s brain. It has trouble these days.”

That’s not even mentioning the time spent with my two dear friends that tagged along. I think they thought it was going to be a breeze….just go and get some cool new ideas for our group, some free food and come back refreshed from a weekend away from the kids.

Instead we were each challenged in our own walk with Christ. We spent late nights deep in conversation about what the Lord is doing in our lives. There was confession, openness and forgiveness.

God dealt with each of us differently. He gave us a renewed vision for our little homeschool group and He was faithful to gently show us our weaknesses and to lovingly remind us each of how much he loves us.

I am excited to see how God will use this in my own life, but also the lives of my children and our homeschool group and our homechurch families.

But I am also looking forward to getting back to a more normal schedule. Hanging out with the kids, fixing food for my hard working husband, cuddling my baby and just being home. I’m even looking forward to those pesky old goats.

After a long month of being away so much, being home for a while sounds like a dream….a big ol’ Texas sized dream!

This will be reposted on my second blog.
