Before

Before I start, I want to say that I KNOW my header is messed up….it’s being repaired. It should be back up shortly.

OK, here is what my bedroom looks like today…looked like yesterday and all of the days for the past few years. I am so, so ready to get rid of the red walls. I am going to give you the tour of what I look at every day. Then we’ll be updating you on the changes that are taking place all weekend….

When you walk in the room, this is what you see. One big red wall. I like the color, but I want to brighten up the room. But I LOVE the headboard (I made it a few years ago from old ceiling tiles) and wouldn’t change a thing about it. I made the pillow shams and the long bolster last month, so they will stay also. But I will make some changes to the bedding.

You can see over on the left is where I work on my computer. My printer is there and my computer sits out and it never looks very nice. So I want to find a way to have that be more discreet.

Now we’ll just pan around the room. This is the wall to the left. The rest of the walls are kind of a taupe color. I have never really liked it, but you know how that goes. Once you paint it….you’re not going to paint it again unless it’s hideous. And this isn’t hideous. It’s just not my favorite.

I don’t like the curtain either. I found them a long time ago in the clearance bin at JC Penney. They only had three, so I cut one in half, so the inside panels are only half a panel. It looks worse in person than it show here. Plus I despise mini blinds. I’d like to get rid of those, but I’m not sure what I’ll do about that since they look neat from the outside.

But I adore our two club chair/recliners. They are staying right where they are!

The two picture hanging between the windows are cross stitches that I made about 20 years ago. I will probably give them to the girls for their hope chests. I don’t think they’ll make the cut when I’m deciding what to keep in the room.

The next wall has DUH’s closet in the corner. So I can’t put anything there and block his path. But I would like to give him a small dressing area (read between the lines here ladies and see that I need a place for him to leave his clothes on the floor and I don’t have to see it). I have a few ideas…you’ll see. This brown cabinet is going into the workroom and I am going to move the armoire (you’ll see that in a minute) over to this wall. But the little love seat will stay. The kids sit in it while they are hanging out in the bedroom and I like that.

The pictures over the love seat will probably go and I will paint the little dresser.

This is the last wall. There just too much going on over there and I have never liked that the TV is always visible. I have plans there too….paint, woodwork, flea marketing….it’s gonna be great!

By the way…that’s the armoire that’s getting moved to the other wall.

Just FYI, the door on the right goes into my bathroom and the door on the left goes into the nursery.

You can see that I have all of the bare bones and I just need to do some painting and a few small changes. The furniture arrangement will stay the same and I will do most of my shopping in our storage building. The carpet is a beige berber and will be perfect for my all white thing I’m going for.

Hold on to your hats! I’ve already emptied out the armoire and I’m cleaning out under the bed this afternoon. The dust under there is unimaginable!

This will be reposted on my second blog.

  1. Lisa,

I’m so impressed with your standard, especially in regards to apparel. Normally that standard is not seen except in UPC or Apostolic churches. The only difference is that they don’t allow any makeup or jewelry at all. I know this, because that was my background before I ended up where I am. I only wish more churches & Christians would hold to the same kind of standard. No offense to anyone intended. 🙂

I try to follow the same standard as to dress as closely as possible, except I do wear loose fitting pants with long (covering) blouses.

Many blessings to you & your family as you serve the Lord in the ways He has led you.
