A Special Thank You Note

Last week we had several guests in the casita. On Thursday I went over to give it a look-see and decided that, while the children had been doing a good job of maintaining, it was time to give it a real “Mommy cleaning.”

So I geared up, enlisted my 15, 12 and 10 year olds to help me and we got to work. I assigned jobs to each of them. Once they were on task I set about doing the worst of the cleaning. The toilet needed to be scrubbed with a pumice stone, the bathroom sink was going to take a while and required major elbow grease and the shower….well, you get the picture. Occasionally I would come up for air, my face dripping with sweat and my bad shoulder aching….working my way to an extra physical therapy session next week.

We got it done, I rewarded my helpers with a juice box that I keep in the casita fridge for just such an occasion and we all were proud of how shiny clean our casita would be for the many guests we are expecting over the next few weeks.

Fast forward to this morning. I awoke to find a little thank you note next to my bed. Here’s what it said,

Dear Mommy,

I am both impressed and inspired by your behavior
at the guest house the other day. Thanks for being
a mom who keeps our home clean, no matter how
tired or sweaty she gets.

Love, *H*

:::sniff-sniff:::: (wiping tears from eyes)

This blessed me for so many reasons.

1. At 15 she is noticing how much work I really do
2. She is grateful for my sweatiness
3. She spelled everything right (this one really got to me)
4. Someone around here is finally getting to their thank you notes!

What a great way to start my week!
